These are some questions which perhaps most of us, don’t often think about, and yet the majority of people will have said “I love you” to someone during their life. We can say we are “In love” with someone, but how does it start?
A song that comes to mind is, Love Is in the Air, and if love is in the air, then there can be no hatred. Also, the more people who think of love will help to spread it throughout the world.
As soon as a new-born baby is born, the hope is that the mother will love that child throughout its life. Who taught the mother to love? Was it her own parents? And who taught her parents to love? It is not so much as a lesson as an example, an innate desire to cherish someone else and giving freely of our feelings. Sadly, there are times when some babies are rejected.
Christmas time is the season to joy, love and laughter. Families getting together, a time to say “sorry” if we have hurt someone, or a time to visit a neglected relative or friend. It is a special time when we think of new-born babies, angels and giving to a loved one.
Giving with unconditional love, (not wanting anything in return) can start a ripple effect, passing from one person to another and the result can be felt. To see a smiling and happy face can become infectious, just like yawning, it passes to other people. When giving makes you feel better, it in turn can also have health benefits both physical and mental. So, it’s a win-win situation.
Why Receiving Love Holds Significance
Irrespective of age, gender, sexuality, or physical and mental well-being, the necessity for love and affection is universal for you and those in your proximity.
The profound impact of receiving love and affection can be traced to a biochemical level, primarily through the release of oxytocin, commonly referred to as the “love hormone.” Beyond the immediate chemical effects, the benefits of experiencing love and affection extend to one’s health. This includes the reduction of blood pressure, mood stabilization, and a myriad of other positive outcomes.
The mental, emotional, and social advantages associated with receiving love are self-evident. Beyond facilitating the cultivation of enduring and positive relationships, the experience contributes significantly to heightened confidence and enhanced self-esteem. Strengthening the bond with your loved ones and establishing a foundation of trust are additional outcomes of embracing love and affection in your life.
The science of generosity
When you were a child, there was nothing better than receiving a gift. A wrapped present was a mystery story with an ending that was guaranteed to be excellent. You didn’t know exactly what was inside, but you knew it was for you, and it was probably something you wanted.
We all eventually reach an age at which giving gifts becomes just as thrilling as it was receiving them as a child. As you mature, you come to realize that the joy of bringing happiness to others holds a power beyond your wildest expectations.
There’s an indescribable satisfaction in observing people unwrap a gift, their faces lighting up with genuine amazement and joy. The simple act of making someone smile becomes more valuable than any amount of money or possession.
Simultaneously, there’s immense fulfilment in contributing to the well-being of the world around us. Recognizing our own privilege compared to others often sparks a deep-seated desire to assist those who are less fortunate.
Ultimately, progress as a species is hindered when a significant portion of the population is left to suffer in the shadows.
Of course, there is another way to bring love into your life and joy into another. Send a little gift. Such a thought of endearment means so much when it arrives out of the blue. So why don’t you send someone a little present of a SkinLikes product? We will wrap it and include a message from you. We can even add a Christmas card if you wish.
Give it a thought? It might just change someone’s life for the better, and it will make you feel good too. You never know.
Kind regards and best wishes from Sheila and all the team at SkinLikes.
